Nursing Team

Jennifer Nicholson RVN

Our head nurse Jennifer started working at Crossriggs in 2012 as a student Veterinary Nurse when she began training at the Barony College in Dumfries. In November 2014 she qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and has been part of the Crossriggs team ever since. In 2020 Jennifer completed her BSc honours top up degree in Veterinary Nursing.

In her spare time, Jennifer competes in agility with her dogs and enjoys travelling around Scotland to compete.

Jennifer is a trained clinical supervisor for Barony College and has trained several student nurses at Crossriggs, including Ceara and Shonagh.

Ceara McEwan RVN

Ceara joined us in 2021 as a student nurse on our reception team. During 2022-23 Ceara completed her placement year with us and then graduated as a BSc RVN in August 2023.

In her spare time Ceara enjoys spending time travelling with her dog, Buffy.

Ceara has only just graduated and is gaining experience and confidence as a qualified RVN, at the moment she shows a specific interest in nursing clinics and surgical nursing.

Sarah Higgins RVN

We are delighted to welcome Sarah to the practice, who joins our nursing team as a third RVN to assist our busy vets.
Originally from Yorkshire, Sarah qualified as an RVN in 1999. She left the profession in 2004 to work in various roles within the NHS and has recently completed a period of supervised practice accredited by the RCVS to restore her RVN qualification.
Sarah’s hobbies include walking her dog Yani and looking after her small herd of Galloway cattle.

Rose Condie

Rose came to Crossriggs in 2003 as a full time veterinary nursing assistant after working at veterinary practices in Edinburgh, and also after several years as a zookeeper at Edinburgh Zoo.

In 2004 she left briefly, then returned part time, to allow her to set up her boarding facilities for cats.

She also trains young, keen Border Collies as working dogs for farmers who don’t have the necessary time themselves, and occasionally breed litters of Border Collies.

Rose also works on our reception desk so she is a very familiar face to all our clients!

Eilidh Crawford

Our nurses have a new recruit! Eilidh joined the team at the start of 2024 having recently completed an animal care course at SRUC Barony Campus. Eilidh also volunteers at Fossilfields Training Centre and has experience of caring for all sorts of different animals, from dogs to ducks! Eilidh has settled in really well and enjoys supporting our nurses with their daily tasks.

Tracey Brydon-Brown

Tracey now splits her time between our reception team and our nursing team. She is currently working towards her Animal Nursing Assistant qualification via the College of Animal Welfare.
